In addition to the programs and resources offered through OPWDD and other state agencies, many other resources and opportunities exist to help you in your employment journey. The links included on this page are meant to provide options and assistance and are not expressly endorsed by New York State or NYS OPWDD.

Independent Living Centers: Independent Living Centers (ILCs) offer a range of services that support New Yorkers with all disabilities in living fully integrated and self-directed lives, including aspects of employment and earning.

SANYS Employment Resources: The Self-Advocacy Association of New York State, Inc., is an organization founded and led by people with developmental disabilities for people with developmental disabilities. They have posted employment resources for people with disabilities on their website.

Autistic Self-Advocacy Network Guide to Employment First:  The ASAN developed this easy read guide, “Real Work For Real Pay: A Self-Advocate's Guide to Employment Policy” so that any person with any disability can use it and learn about the Employment First policy.

A Complete Guide to Jobs for People With Disabilities (2025): This guide will help you discover your skills and interests and even help you build a resume.

Resources for Job Seekers and Employees with Disabilities: The “What Can You Do” website offers numerous resources that can help you identify your skills and go through the steps toward employment.

America's Career Toolkit: The U.S. Department of Labor sponsors the CareerOneStop site, which is a valuable resource for anyone seeking a job. The toolkit is designed to help you find the tools you need to research careers, find training, or search for jobs.

Work From Home with a Disability: MyDisabilityJobs.com outlines the top remote jobs (as of 2025) and explains why they may be a good fit for you.
