About the HCBS Waiver
The Home and Community Based Services (HCBS) waiver offers several different services to support people in the community.
The HCBS waiver is one of many waivers that the federal government approves to allow states to be more flexible with the use of Medicaid funds. Under these special agreements, the federal government sets aside certain Medicaid rules to allow states to use Medicaid funding for services that will support people to live at home with their families or independently in the community instead of in a nursing home or other institutional setting.
