Autism Acceptance Month

April is Autism Acceptance Month. Participate in our social media campaign by telling us how you define YOUR Autism.

Participate in Our Social Media Campaign by Telling Us How You Define YOUR Autism

Autism Spectrum Disorder is a developmental disability that affects how a person interacts with others, communicates, and learns. It impacts people differently, and it is those beautiful differences that we are highlighting and celebrating this April.

Our social media campaign asks you to use one or more of the letters that appear in the word AUTISM to show us what autism looks like in your life or the life of someone you know. This campaign is designed for everyone - people with and without autism. Check out the sample posts below to get your creative juices flowing. You can participate by “filling in the blank” on one of the sample posts or create your own unique post. Take it a step further by taking a picture of yourself holding up the letter(s) you decide to use to describe your autism. Studies show that posts with images get more attention, so we encourage you to snap that photo of yourself to help spread your message far and wide!

To use one of the sample posts, just fill in the blank by inserting an adjective beginning with one or more of the letters A, U, T, I, S, or M, e.g., “amazing”) Remember, if you tag us @NYSOPWDD we’ll be able to see your post.
