Heath Information Management positions at OPWDD maintain systems for acquiring and preserving medical records for people being served by OPWDD.
Health Information Management Technician I
As a Health Information Management Technician 1 with OPWDD, you would review diagnostic and therapeutic medical records for completeness, accuracy, and to reflect current and future treatment needs; ensure records are compliant with accreditation, research, and legal requirements; supervise and perform coding of diseases, diagnoses, operations, and procedures; participate in committees concerned with policies and procedures governing medical records; assist facility staff in resolving problems with proper medical records maintenance and use; and train staff in the goals and procedures of the health information management program.
Health Information Management Technician 2
As a Health Information Management Technician 2 with OPWDD, you would supervise Health Information Management Technicians 1 and other support staff; and act as assistant to a Health Information Management Administrator in the following areas: staff assignments, medical records review, training, interpretation of policy and procedure, problem solving, staff evaluation, medical records reports and adherence to medical records accreditation standards.
Health Information Management Administrator 1
As a Health Information Management Administrator 1 with OPWDD, you would manage the day-to-day operations of a medical records program; plan, implement, and maintain systems for acquiring and preserving individuals’ medical records; supervise and train subordinate staff in facility medical records and health information management departments; and participate in the development of computer applications for medical records information. The level of Health Information Management Administrator is based on the number of people served, and/or the number of medical records activities performed annually at a facility.
Health Information Management Administrator 2
As a Health Information Management Administrator 2, you would manage the day-to-day operations of a medical records program; plan, implement, and maintain systems for acquiring and preserving individuals’ medical records; supervise and train subordinate staff in facility medical records and health information management departments; and participate in the development of computer applications for medical records information.
