Juan R. Baez

Juan R. Baez

As one of the original members of the Integrated Employment Services (IES) program at Silver Lake Day Services (SLDS) in Perry, NY, Juan Baez’s experience in a variety of jobs has given him a chance to grow both as a worker and as an advocate for himself and his peers.

He currently works for local farmers cleaning milk tanks, helping in their offices and doing odd jobs around the farms. He also cleans at a local pizzeria, church and athletic club. One of his future goals is to get a full-time job as a dishwasher at Applebee’s – his favorite restaurant!

Outside of his work, Juan enjoys learning to speak Spanish to better communicate with his family, staff and the Hispanic community. He is of Spanish descent, but never learned how to speak the language. One trait that makes Juan stick out among the crowd is his positive personality. Members of his community call him a “ray of sunshine in their day.”

And that is what makes Juan One of a Kind.
