Michael Harp

Over the last several years, Michael Harp has graduated from school, volunteered, taken computer classes and developed his own portfolio. Michael made it very clear all along the way that he wanted to earn money. Through his own advocacy and determination, he obtained his first paid job last November at Innovative Integrated Solutions where he does contract work and small assembly for about 20 hours per week.

Outside of his career goals, Michael, who lives in Hamburg, NY, has been actively learning how to manage his own medications and has greatly improved his control over his emotions and social skills. He actively helps out around the house with cleaning and daily chores and also assists staff with such things as grocery shopping and meal prep.

One example of his personal growth was recently having to make the final end-of-life decision for his elderly pet cat, Jasmine, and he stayed with her until the very end. His strength and continued progress is helping lead him toward greater independence in life.

And that is what makes Michael One of a Kind.
