March marks Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month, an opportunity to increase public understanding and perception of the needs, abilities and tremendous potential of people with developmental disabilities. As increasing numbers of people with developmental disabilities live, work, play and contribute in their communities, it is more important than ever that this awareness not be limited to one month, but year-round.

With that in mind, in honor of Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month, we are highlighting six New Yorkers, who show us that commitment, passion and community support bring positive change, not only to them, but to our state and all our lives.
