Everyone has the right to work, and New York’s employers deserve a reliable, effective and efficient workforce.
In support of that, Governor Cuomo’s Employment First Commission and OPWDD have developed EmployAbility, a toolkit to help business owners and operators understand the benefits they could achieve by hiring employees of all abilities.
The toolkit, available here online and also as a handbook, provides businesses with the information needed to begin employing people of all abilities. You’ll learn about financial and tax incentives, how and why hiring people of all abilities is good for business and where to find qualified employees. This kit is designed to walk you through the hiring process step-by-step.
EmployAbility is just one of the ways New York State is working to make it easier for businesses to expand their workforce to be integrated, inclusive and profitable. The Employability Toolkit was compiled by a consortium of New York State agencies and disability organizations including the Inclusive Workforce Alliance (IWA) and the New York State Business Leadership Network, New York’s chapter of the US Business Leadership Network® (USBLN®), a national non-profit that helps business drive performance by leveraging disability inclusion in the workplace, supply chain, and marketplace.
