Specialty Clinical Laboratories


The Specialty Clinical Laboratories (SCL) at IBR is dedicated to serving New York State consumers and private clients in the performance of medical laboratory testing. The SCL has 10 separate laboratories and receives specimens from all over the world from approximately 150 different facilities.

The SCL provides laboratory services in the following areas:

  • Cytogenetics
  • Amino acids
  • Organic acids
  • Lysosomal storage disease enzyme
  • Mucopolysaccharides
  • Gangliosides
  • Glycolipids
  • Molecular neuronal ceroid lipofuscinosis (CLN3 and DNAJC5)
  • Cell cultures for diagnostic testing
  • Molecular fragile X
  • Accessing and processing for reference laboratories
