SANYS Unveils "TechknowledgeMe" Videoconferencing Resources

The Self-Advocacy Association of New York State, Inc., (SANYS), an organization founded, and led by people with developmental disabilities for people with developmental disabilities, has launched a new training opportunity on its website called TechknoweldgeMe.  The goal of TechnowledgeMe is to educate people with developmental disabilities about the mechanics of participating in videoconferences.

During the COVID-19 public health emergency,  videoconferencing became more commonplace.  While in-person meetings have now resumed in most cases, it's clear that videoconferencing is here to stay, as is the need to ensure everyone knows how to fully access the technology to participate in meetings.

TechknowledgeMe includes a library of five short, step-by-step videos and a survey on the SANYS YouTube site.

The videos include:

What is Videoconferencing?

How to Join a Videoconference

Meeting Etiquette

Keeping Track of Meetings

Advocating for Access

With the launch of TechknowledgeMe, SANYs is helping to level the playing field for people with developmental disabilities when it comes to accessing technology and participating in videoconferencing.
