POSITION: CHOICES/TABS Coordinator – Nurse Administrator 1

YEARS OF SERVICE: 32

Eric Teller was named the 2019 Employee of the Year for the Taconic DDRO because of his willingness to go above and beyond on a daily basis.

“Eric is willing to accept additional tasks and responsibilities, as well as volunteering for any project that needs to be completed,” says Ellen Serencsics, Developmental Disabilities Program Specialist IV, and Eric’s supervisor. Eric has been working with the Front Door since its inception. Eric not only assists the Regional Office, but works closely with the provider agencies by providing training and guidance, as needed.

“Eric was instrumental in preparing reports, gathering data necessary for a provider agency’s merger,” she adds. “His ability to navigate through the CHOICES and TABS programs is crucial to the Regional Office. Eric prepares the weekly spreadsheets to be reviewed by the Front Door team that approves services for people . Eric also gathers information for annual agency reports.”

As proof of his dedication, Serencsics provides an example when Eric stayed late to process individual enrollments for a provider agency, so that it met the requirements for a merger to occur on July 1.

“Eric was able to answer questions via phone to assist the agency,” She adds. “He also participates in monthly community of practice calls and shares the information with the Regional office. He volunteers to help set up and break down conference rooms for all employee functions.”

“Eric is a dedicated employee who goes above and beyond on a daily basis,” Serencsics concludes.
