SANDRA’S FAVORITE OR MOST REWARDING PART ABOUT BEING A DSP:

Sandra says her favorite part of being a DSA is seeing an individual smile when he or she has accomplished a task that the person believed he or she could not do.

ABOUT SANDRA:

Cynthia Collier, Sandra’s supervisor, says Sandra was selected to be a DSP nominee because she possesses the morale, enthusiasm and responsible attitude that the agency likes to see from direct support staff.

“Sandra is self-motivated and handles most situations in the day program (where she works) with ease,” says Collier. “She greets and welcomes people daily, providing the feeling of a home-away-from-home environment for our individuals.”

“Sandra loves to ensure that our individuals participate in holiday recognition activities,” Collier says.  “She goes out of her way to purchase holiday decorations and considers what the individuals would like to see.  Sandra shows a true concern for our individuals and takes initiative to find events in the community that would be of most interest to the people we support.”

Jeanine Crawford, Treatment Team Leader, says Sandra is upbeat and comes to work each day with a positive attitude, which really helps individuals feel happy and engaged.

“Sandra works well with her coworkers and always offers assistance to ensure that both her peers, and individuals, feel supported,” Crawford adds.
