THE NOMINEE’S FAVORITE OR MOST REWARDING PART ABOUT BEING A DSP:

“Nick puts his feelings to the side and does whatever is needed at the moment because at the end of the day, he is here for the individuals and he feels good when he can make a difference in their lives,” according to Nicholas Bregoli’s colleague, Direct Support Assistant Colleen Hardy.

ABOUT NICHOLAS:

Nicholas reports to work each day with an open mind and a kind heart; he is very patient and caring with the people he serves. Hardy says he eagerly takes the initiative to complete any assignment scheduled for the day.

Kisha Pollard, Program Manager II, says Nicholas is very passionate about the individuals in the home where he works. “It shows in the way he interacts with them. When they need something he never hesitates to address their needs.”

An example of Nick’s exemplary work: A parent wanted a person in Nick’s care to come home for Easter, and Nick eagerly agreed to escort the person home. While enroute they stopped at the store to buy a card, and presented it to the parent upon arrival.

“The parent was so full of emotion because Nick took the time to help the individual acknowledge the parent, letting the parent know that they are still a major factor in their child’s life, even from afar,” Hardy adds.
