THE NOMINEE’S FAVORITE OR MOST REWARDING PART ABOUT BEING A DSP:

Anne Pfitscher from the Taconic region, says the most rewarding thing to her is personal relationships she makes with the people she supports, and the appreciation she feels from each relationship. “When goals are completed, and I have helped them fulfill something they wanted to achieve, the love and trust that goes both ways are the most fulfilling parts,” Anne adds.

ABOUT ANNE:

Anne’s supervisor, Sonya Lee, Senior Licensed Practical Nurse and Developmental Assistant I, says Anne is steady and constant in her work ethic. “She is very knowledgeable about those in her care, as well as policies pertaining to them. She makes sure new staff are shown the correct and best way to work with people in the home. If someone needs something, she will do what she can to listen and support them, be it staff or person with a disability. She adjusts her schedule, whenever it is needed, even if it is at the last minute.

“Anne is so kind and thoughtful,” Lee continues. “She puts others before herself. She is diligent and reliable and whatever is asked, she will try her best to do it.”

Lee says, “Anne tries to think outside the box in ways to care for the people she supports, to ensure that they have a good day, every day. She gives them her undivided attention, even in her busiest moments.

“Anne is a stellar employee, always helpful and attentive. She is definitely an asset to OPWDD – an awesome team player,” Lee concludes.
