THE NOMINEE’S FAVORITE OR MOST REWARDING PART ABOUT BEING A DSP:

Ella Nelson says the most rewarding part about being a DSP is coming to work every day to be part of making the individuals’ lives happy and meaningful.

ABOUT ELLA:

Ella has an exceptional quality of care and work ethic, according to Victor Joseph, the Developmental Assistant III where Ella works.

“She carries out her responsibilities with ease and with no complaints. She always looks for the positive in everyone,” he says.

Joseph says Ella goes above and beyond to assist coworkers in understanding the expectations of the job. She has developed a positive and respectful relationship with the individuals she supports and has earned their trust.

“She always makes them feel comfortable, interacts with them and shows interest in helping them reach their goals,” says Joseph. “She listens to them, takes them into the community and on walks, dances with them and always comes up with constructive ideas that leave a positive effect on the people she works with.”

“Ella always comes to work prepared,” Joseph continues. “The people at the home always look forward to the days she is at work. She is an outstanding team player. When everyone else says no, Ella always says yes.”

Ella shows the ability to communicate well with the people she supports. “She is very helpful as a coworker and builds bonds positively with all. She goes the extra mile to make the work environment run safely and smoothly,” Joseph concludes.
