Years of Service: 20

THE NOMINEE’S FAVORITE OR MOST REWARDING PART ABOUT BEING A DSP:

Latasha Lopez says, “Just working with people I support and the positive interactions that I have with them is my reward alone and is what I enjoy the most.”

ABOUT LATASHA:

Leslie Carrington, Developmental Assistant III, nominated Latasha, saying that she has learned so much and grown in the field that Latasha has worked in for 20 years.

“She has always maintained a caring, compassionate work ethic,” Carrington adds.

“Latasha has the drive and determination that sets her apart from others,” she continues. “She is a strong advocate for the people we serve. Miss Lopez will go beyond the call of duty without being asked.”

As an example of her caring and advocacy, Carrington said that Latasha has, on several occasions, obtained movie tickets to special movie screenings. Even if she worked the night before, she will go to make sure that the people she supports are safe and secure, as well as her fellow coworkers.

“Working with Miss Lopez has been a blessing,” Carrington says. “The way people respond and trust her is rewarding enough alone.”
