THE NOMINEE’S FAVORITE OR MOST REWARDING PART ABOUT BEING A DSP:

“I feel rewarded when the people I work with are able to perform the tasks independently that we have worked on,” says Linette Boone. “I have always enjoyed seeing the people I care for become more independent.”

ABOUT LINETTE:

Linette was nominated by 11 of her coworkers for her endless dedication to the people she supports at the day habilitation program where she works. That, according to Joanna Joachim, the day hab administrator and Linette’s supervisor.

“Linette’s compassion, kindness, dedication, diligence and pride in her job made her an outstanding nominee,” Joachim says.

Linette has organized several individualized outings to make the people at the day hab feel special. She takes them to Walmart and Price Chopper where they assist with making purchases for her classroom. They choose art supplies and cooking materials to make treats or special lunches in the kitchen.

“Linette also organizes picnics for her group to enjoy at local parks,” Joachim says. “Her outings do not end at day hab; she volunteers to work at her assigned house to accompany people to outings like concerts, haircuts, fairs and special dinners to local restaurants.

“Linette is one of the most dedicated employees I have ever had the pleasure of working with,” Joachim says. “Linette goes out of her way to ensure the people we support have all their needs met and respects everyone individually. She is loved by everyone at the day hab.”
