NYS Core Competencies and NADSP Code of Ethics – Complete Text
The Core Competencies adopted by the NYS Talent Development Consortium apply to all DSPs across the state, working at state-operated and voluntary programs. Coupled with the Code of Ethics for Direct Support Professionals, these values-based competencies and skills are the foundation of person-centered supports for New Yorkers with developmental disabilities.

Core Competency Training Visuals
These training tools illustrate the New York State Core Competencies for Direct Support Professionals Goals and Competency Areas. When a goal is highlighted, the respective Competency Areas appear at the core of the visual. These visuals can be used to help staff quickly relate to the Goals and Competencies in a colorful, memorable way. Available in PowerPoint for presentations, and also 11x17 for the ability to print as a series in poster format

The Crosswalk: POMS, Core Comps, Ethics, HCBS, PCP, PROMOTE
The crosswalk between and among POMs, Core Competencies, Code of Ethics, HCBS Rule, and PROMOTE was developed by the Regional Centers for Workforce Transformation (RCWT) to demonstrate an inter-relationship of purpose and practical expectations occurring in service transformation in NY and across the United States.
