Be Your Own Advocate


Advocacy means to speak or act in support of someone.  This web page provides resources that can help people advocate for themselves and for others.  The following links can be used to obtain information about:

  • OPWDD service providers and choosing a provider for yourself or a loved one and,
  • Organizations that offer helpful information and advocacy. 

Provider Information – Find out what types of services an agency currently provides.  This site also provides some information about the quality of an agency’s services.  It is currently in development.  It is OPWDD’s intent to continue to add information as it becomes available.

Choosing a Service Provider  – Click this link for a list of resources you can use to help you choose the right service provider for you, including ideas for questions to ask that will help you make your decision.

Provider Directory – Find a list of providers of supports and services in your area.  Search by city, county, etc.
