THE NOMINEE’S FAVORITE OR MOST REWARDING PART ABOUT BEING A DSP:
“Being a DSP is very rewarding for me,” says Sophia Banton. “It brings me joy and a sense of pride, knowing that I can make a difference in an individual’s life. Being an advocate and seeing them receive the necessary supports and services; having the opportunity to work with dedicated coworkers and the hands-on, day-to-day experience is satisfying. I am grateful for the opportunity to serve them.”
ABOUT SOPHIA:
Lourdes Dorce, Developmental Assistant II and House Manager, says Sophia goes above and beyond assisting the people at the home where she works.
Two years ago, when COVID-19 started, Sophia was one of the staff who continued to work through the pandemic, working double and triple shifts for days and not taking any days off until the quarantine was lifted.
“She is an excellent employee, a very good role model, teacher and provides good support for the people in her care,” adds Dorce. “Sophia follows the mission statement and has patience when assisting people with their goals. The people look up to Sophia and will sometimes ask, ‘Hey, is Sophia working today?’”
“Thank you, Sophia for your hard work and dedication,” says Dorce. “Employees like you make the organization what it is today. Thanks for bringing your best to work every day.”
